Thankful

If for some reason you are not feeling particularly thankful this season, spend a little while with a group of preschoolers and you will be changing your tune. Regularly, my class of 4 and 5 year olds challenges me to reboot my attitude or stop and really reflect on the good things in life. Yesterday was no exception. As I blogged last year, I have an annual tradition at Thanksgiving that goes back to my own childhood. I give every child 5 candy corns and tell the class that we will go around the circle and share 5 things for which we are thankful. It is as if they know that this is really an important, almost sacred moment, because they are always very serious and reflective. I am usually fighting back tears by the end.

So, if you need an idea to help spur on thankfulness, here are some of the things my class is thankful for this year:

A house to keep the rain off
Clothes to wear
Brothers
Sisters
Food
My teacher
My school
Love
My Mom and Dad
Animals
Grandma
Friends coming for Thanksgiving
My new furniture
Cookies
Books
Singing
Sleepovers
And, of course, nail polish!

Happy Thanksgiving!
